Open gyms for VC will be held from May 12th to July 10th. Our open gyms are fast-paced allowing each athlete to get a high amount of touches while keeping their heart rates up. We do so by incorporating multiple 6v6 drills, serve-receive/serving drills, and many other drills that keep the girls moving. Although our open gyms are less skills-focused, our coaches do a great job at giving quick feedback to the girls if needed. It is recommended to sign up for our open gyms if you are planning on playing club for VCD during the 2025-2026 season. Open gyms are the best opportunity to get exposed to our coaches and to see the girls’ potential outside of tryouts.
We will be capping each session to 60 athletes (Sport Axis) this year. In the case that we sell out a session, we will add 24 additional spots for open gym in our new facility across the street (2465 Industrial Lane). All sessions are non-refundable. You may receive a credit for a cancelled open gym session if it is 24 hours in advance. This credit can only be used for 2025 open gyms if spots are still available. To cancel/change an open gym, please email caiden@vcdenver.org.
Please know that there will be no recruiting, offers, or inducements at our open gyms prior to June 1st. After June 1st, recruiting can take place but offers of any type are restricted until July 12th. This is an RMR rule that applies to every club and athlete. More information is posted below in the last section.
Cost:
$20 per open gym (must register and pay online)
All athletes who attend 10 or more open gyms will receive a waived tryout fee ($50 value). If you attend 10+ open gyms, please still register for tryouts and choose the offline option for payment. This will allow us to waive your fee.
Please sign up for the age group you will play for during the 2025/2026 season. Please consult with Caiden (caiden@vcdenver.org) if you are interested in attending other age group open gyms.
We will have three different open gym times (please note age groups are for the 25-26 season):
10s-14s: 4:30-6pm pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays
15s and 16s: 6pm-7:30pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays
17s, 18s, and Collegiate Athletes: 4:30-6:00 pm on Mondays and Wednesdays
No open gym during the week of Memorial Day or the 2nd and 3rd of July.
New this summer, VC Denver is offering Pre-Tryout Skill Prep Clinics designed to help athletes fine-tune their skills in preparation for 2025–26 club season tryouts. These clinics are for athletes who are serious about preparing for tryouts and want focused, high-repetition training in key skill areas.
While open gyms are more relaxed and game-based, Pre-Tryout Prep is structured, drill-driven sessions with more technical feedback. Athletes will rotate through skill-specific drills and competitive scenarios to sharpen execution—but these sessions will not include 6-on-6 scrimmages or basic skill breakdowns.
Participation is highly recommended for athletes planning to try out for our Black, Gold, or White teams.
Athletes are encouraged to attend multiple sessions if they have multiple skills they want to work on.
